Why would Nintendo develop a game that’s supposed to extend the lifecycle of Nintendo Switch and then announce a new console, thus throwing a wrench in any plans they had for boosting Switch’s sales? Especially since the purported console is still within the realm of imagination and speculation rather than reality. However, considering that The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is only months away from launch, the reveal of Nintendo Switch 2 doesn’t seem likely. That is unless Nintendo decides to finally reveal and launch the long-awaited successor to Nintendo Switch. At the same time, we’re still waiting for The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom to officially launch, so any other post-launch content is likely to drop at a much later date in order to drive player engagement, keep the players interested, and Nintendo Switch relevant long enough for it to overthrow PS2 as the best selling console.
Admittedly, it’s always best to wait for an official confirmation instead of jumping to conclusions, but it’s worth pointing out that the Breath of the Wild store page also featured the same text, even before any DLC was announced for the game.
